About Alice

Alice received massage training at The Heartwood Institute, one of the most prestigious schools of massage in the United States. During her time at Heartwood, Alice completed the Massage Practitioner and Oriental Healing Arts programs and ran the Wellness Clinic at Heartwood, which provided wellness advice for the local community.

Since graduating in 2000, Alice has worked as a massage therapist in California, Hawaii, New Jersey, Virginia, and Washington D.C. Alice currently holds massage therapy licenses in Virginia, Hawaii, and the District of Columbia. Alice is insured by the International Massage Association(IMA), and has retained membership with the IMA for five years.

Work Experience

After graduating from Heartwood, Alice maintained a private practice in Santa Barbara, CA. Seeking a relaxing living environment, Alice moved to Kauai, Hawaii in 2001 and worked for several resorts in the north shore towns of Princeville and Haena. Alice worked with Divine Touch, Inc. in Princeville, Hawaii for three years, an experience that enhanced her knowledge of massage therapy techniques and broadened her client base. Many clients returned to Hawaii year after year seeking the healing results derived from Alice's techniques.

Since 2004, Alice has lived on the east coast of the United States, primarily in the Washington DC area. Alice has a steadily growing private practice and offers both out call and in call service. During her time in the DC area, Alice has worked for The Natural Body Spa and Shoppe in Arlington, VA, as a specialist in Deep Tissue massage. Alice has also worked for Hands on Health, a highly professional massage company servicing the finer areas of Washington D.C.

In 2005 Alice's massage therapy skills brought about an offer from the Heritage Institute in Manassas, VA to become a massage instructor. Alice accepted the position, and instructed adult students in Swedish massage, Deep tissue massage, Sports massage, Myo-fascial release therapy, and Neuro-muscular therapy. Alice still receives calls from her students thanking her for all the great instruction she provided!

A large number of Alice's clients in the D.C. area are athletes, including long distance cyclers and marathon runners. As a result, Alice has been able to hone her skills in pre- and post-event sports massage. Utilizing techniques such as pre-event muscle loading, Alice has helped her clients have better, stronger, and more efficient workouts, which has led to better results in training sessions and on race day.

Credentials

Alice has over 1000 hours in massage therapy training. She has been trained in a wide variety of massage techniques, including: Swedish Massage, Deep Tissue Massage, Sports Massage, Myo-Fascial release therapy, Polarity Therapy, Shiatsu Acupressure, Neuro-muscular therapy, and Nutritional Consulting. Alice is a member of the International Massage Association, and holds message therapy licenses in Virginia, Washington D.C., and Hawaii.

Alice has over six years of hands on experience, working with athletes, businesspeople, housewives, college students, chronic pain sufferers, and first time massage participants. Alice truly has something wonderful and unique to offer all of her clients.
